Head Coach of Madagascar Nicolas Dupuis has staked an excuse for his side’s elimination in the quarter finals of Afcon 2019, saying they “were just not ready for the Carthage Eagles.”
The fairy tale of the Barea of Madagascar came to an end yesterday at the Al Salam Sports Stadium when Tunisians thrashed them by three unanswered goals in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Madagascar now join the likes of Ivory Coast, Benin and South Africa who have also been kicked out by Senegal, Algeria and Nigeria respectively.
Speaking at a post match conference, coach Nicolas Dupuis praised his team for the good run they had in the tournament but admitted that they were just not ready for the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.
“I am very proud of my team. I don’t know whether I will stay or not, but I am enjoying my time with this team. To beat the Tunisian team, we needed them to be less good. They were a great them. We weren’t ready for them,” he said.
