The Terenga Lions of Senegal and the Desert Foxes of Algeria both from Group C will play in the final of the ongoing AFCON making it game number 52 for the ultimate trophy.
Algeria were the leaders in Group C after beating Senegal by a lone goal in their second group game at the 30 June Sports Stadium in Cairo making Algeria the only team in the competition who are yet to lose a game.
This encounter is likely to produce goals since the two teams have scored 20 goals combined so far in the competition (8 for Senegal & 12 for Algeria) and Senegal will be looking forward to redeem themselves after their group game defeat to the Desert Foxes.
Senegal edged past Tunisia by a lone goal in extra-time after both teams missed penalties in the space of six minutes while Algeria beat the Super Eagles of Nigeria by 2-1 with an injury time Riyard Mahrez strike to book their ticket for the final.
Senegal will be coming into this crucial game without their pillar at the back Kalidou Koulibaly who is suspended.
Also first choice goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, who suffered a fractured hand earlier in the tournament and remains out, meaning SPAL keeper Alfred Gomis (man of the match in the semi-final win over Tunisia) is set to continue his role between the sticks.
Predicted Line-up : Gomis, Gassama, Kouyate, Sane, Sabaly; Saivet, Ndiaye, Gueye; Sarr, Niang, Mane
There are no injuries in the camp of Algeria coming up into this game with the Terenga Lions and therefore will face Senegal with their full strength.
Predicted Line-up :
M’bolhi; Zeffane, Mandi, Benlamri, Bensebaini; Guedioura, Bennacer, Feghouli; Mahrez, Bounedjah, Belaili

KICK OFF & VENUE

MY PREDICTIONS : SENEGAL 0-2 ALGERIA
I will go for Algeria to win this game by two unanswered goals against Senegal based on how the two teams have played in the tournament so far. Algeria have a very compact team with a very good game plan to keep the ball at their feet at all times and this has helped them to create a lot of chances.
Senegal on the other hand, rely mostly on their star players and with the absence of Kuolibaly at the back for the Terenga Lions, they will be in danger. While star man Sadio Mane is doing all he can, the drought of striker Mabaye Niang may cost Senegal their first ever Africa Cup of Nations.
As the game comes with the nuances of unpredictability, Senegal with a game plan of close-marking and covering up spaces can prevent the attack of the Desert Foxes. Algeria have vulnerabilities too and a determined Senegal can upset them.
