The Ministry of Youth and Sports have increased the Black Stars winning bonus to $15,000 ahead of their match against Tunisia in the round of 16 in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, according to Ghanacrusader’s grapevine information.
Information gathered by Ghanacrusader indicates that each player of the Black Stars will receive a mammoth $15,000 as winning bonus if they beat the North African giants to advance to the last eight of the tournament.
The Normalisation Committee of the Ghana Football Association had earlier announced $10,000 as the Black Stars winning bonus at the tournament.
However, the Black Stars players pocketed $30,000 each for reaching the knock-out stage of the 2019 AFCON after having two draws and one win — they topped Group F which contained Benin, Guinea-Bissau and defending champions Cameroon.
The 50% increment is a sign of motivation to the players to triumph in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
The four-time champions last won the AFCON trophy in 1982 and have lost out in three finals, thus 1992, 2010 and 2015.
Ghana will face Tunisia, who finished second in Group E, on Monday, July 8, at the Ismailia Stadium at exactly 19:00 GMT.
