21-year-old Nigerian arrested for processing fake currency

The Adweso District Police Command, has arrested a 21-year-old Nigerian for allegedly possessing fake Ghanaian currency in Koforidua in the Eastern region.

The suspect, Ndzi Dee Thank God was arrested while attempting to load the counterfeit currency into his mobile money wallet.

Sources close to the arrest narrated that, the mobile money vendor, Evans Panor, who operates in the New Juaben Municipality became suspicious when the suspect came to deposit GHc240 of the fake currency in GHc5 denomination.

He quickly informed the Police and the suspect was picked up.

It is established that, a search on the suspect retrieved another GH₵105 of the fake currency in same denomination. According to the police, careful scrutiny of the fake currencies retrieved on the suspect has same serial numbers.

According to the CID at the Adweso District Police Command Detective Inspector Eunice Ankrah, the case has been forwarded to the regional headquarters for further investigation and prosecution.
