Abudus Enskin Bolin-Lana As Regent
The Abudu royal family is enskinning the Bolin-Lana as the Regent of Dagbon in line with the customs and traditions that must be performed as part of the funeral of his late father, Ya Na Mahamadu Abdulai IV.
The Abudu family signed an undertaking the previous day in connection with the rites and officially took over the temporary Gbewa Palace to begin the funeral rites of the late king. A symbolic gun salute was observed amidst drumming and dancing to commemorate the takeover of the Gbewa Palace.
Hundreds of indigenes of Dagbon and foreign tourists have gathered in the Yendi Municipality to observe the royal ceremony. High profile divisional and paramount chiefs of the Abudu family have also converged on Yendi for the occasion.
The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Sa-eed, together with top government officials, are expected in the town. The Yendi municipality will be filled with traditional and cultural activities during this period. According to Vo Na, Alhaji M. B. Bawah of the Andani family, some chiefs of the Andani family will participate in the funeral activities of the late Ya Na Mahamadu Abdulai IV.
He disclosed that the Abudus officially invited them to support the funeral arrangements. The Vo Na urged the youth to take full advantage of this historic occasion to learn the traditions and customs of Dagbon.
